Bodegas Los Pinos
An organic vineyard on almost one hundred and fifty acres. Farmed since 1863, the land has been organically cultivated since 1990, and was the first organic vineyard in Valencia.
Bodegas los Pinos dates back to 1889. ”Estate wine”, all our wine comes from our domaine; the winery owns 62 hectares.
The vineyards are located 700 meters above the sea level. Temperature average of 7ºC in winter and 24ºC in summer.
Rainfall is slight, what does fall mostly occurs during winter and early spring.
The training system is on trellises with simple twine. No irrigation. Ground of sandy-loamy texture,
predominating coarse elements. 1.800 vineyard/ha. and the yield is 2kg per vine.
Local yeast fermentation in concrete tanks. No pesticide or synthetic fertilizer, only
organic farming. Smooth maceration and cool fermentation.
Bodegas Los Pinos make eight wines, a number of which have won many international awards. White Salvatge and White Barrique are both made with Sauvignon Blanc and Moscatel Petit Grain grapes. Their Rose Salvatge is made with 100% Grenache grapes. Their five red wines (vino tinto) are Red Salvatge made with Monastrell and Cabernet Franc grapes; Red Barrique made with Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon; Red Crianza made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Monastrell; Olaechea Crianza made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Monastrell; Reserva made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc; and Los Pinos 0% made with Garnacha, Monastrell and Syrah with no sulphites and with indigenous yeasts.
You can visit the vineyard and the beautiful surroundings referred to as the "Tuscany of Spain" which lies about sixty-five miles southwest of Valencia city.
We select the most suitable grapes for this wine. From its low pH and high phenolic potential, the wine reaches a natural resistance an a better evolution in the bottle.
We hand harvest in cases of 15kg in order to avoid oxidation. We elaborate Los Pinos 0% with all the
indigenous yeasts of our vineyard. We do not add any sulfites during all the process, so there is nothing to eliminate the yeasts.
Regarding the durability of the 0% Suphite wine - we are tasting the first vintage (2008) and the wine is super. We think we can store the wine 4-7 years. What is very important is the conservation conditions (15-18 ºC). |
