The Estate

Finca Marisanchez is one of the most stunning vineyards in the Castile La Mancha. Located in the History laden fields of Campo de Montiel it has preserved since medieval times the three quintessentially mediterraneon crops : vines , olive trees & cereal. It is the core of Finca Marisanchez where the second generation family cellar Bodegas Real has stood since 1989. Our goal from the onset has been to transfer the château concept to the lands of La Mancha and to make high quality wines out of our own vines.

The Estate was aquired in 1984 by the Barroso Family , a family with a great wine growing passion. Following analysis of the soil & environment they began an ambitious vine growing plan. The estate became pioneers in the use of state of the art fermentation technology.

The Vineyards

Today the Estate’s vineyards occupy 280ha & are home to 500,000 stocks in total. 80% Cenzibel or Tempranillo. The remaining is reserved for Chardonnay , Viura, Macabeo , Cabernet Sauvignon,Merlot & Syrah. We divided the estate into 5 vineyards each one selected for the perfect location for that crop. We have selected eats facing hillside where the level of sun exposure & maximum height of 700m above sea level perfect for our red grapes.The coldest areas selected for our white. We find sandy loam or silty clay soil types.We have installed a dripping irrigation system fed by our two reservoirs.

Expansion plans

As a company we have embarked on an ambitious enotourism project . We are expanding and a new oak aging cave is planned.
